Revo has elected Ailish Christian-West, Head of Portfolio, Shopping Centre and Outlets at Landsec, as Revo Junior Vice President, becoming President from 2020.

Christian-West’s appointment was formally announced at the Revo Annual Dinner, which gathered together the UK’s retail property and place making industry last night at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

Ailish has 18 years’ experience in the commercial property market and is responsible for a £4bn retail investment portfolio at Landsec. Previously she enjoyed a 10 year career in fund management in the UK. Ailish is a passionate advocate of creating experiential and sustainable destinations for communities, business partners and consumers.

Ailish will serve as Junior Vice-President under President Mark Williams for 12 months, with Ellandi’s Mark Robinson becoming president in 2018.

Ed Cooke, Chief Executive of Revo, said: “Ailish has a fantastic track record in the sector, is a proven leader and will be an excellent ambassador as we work to unite Government, local authorities and the private sector to create retail places that are vibrant, sustainable and accessible for all.”

The winners of the 2017 Revo Gold Awards were also announced at the Revo Annual Dinner, which was supported by Dransfield Properties, NMC Surfacing and Euro Car Parks and DAC Beachcroft.

The awards recognise those "challenging the status quo through innovation and diversity, as well as sector-leading initiatives that foster and support the UK’s communities through development, investment and asset management across retail and leisure formats".

The live poll also determined the industry’s stand out winner when LGIM Real Assets, Schroder REIM, BDP and Chapman Taylor’s Lexicon development was crowned the best of the best from across all of the night’s category winners, having earlier been bestowed with the Re:turn Award.

H&M and Dishoom were voted the winners of a Re:tale Award for Retailer of the Year and Food & Beverage / Leisure Operator of the Year respectively, after the industry participated in the event’s first ever live poll on the night.

In another first for the Revo Gold awards, Ellandi’s Jonathan Cole was named the industry’s Rising Star. The award was introduced this year to recognise young professionals under the age of 30 who demonstrate passion, innovation and commitment to energising and driving progress in the retail property and placemaking industry. Jonathan has been recognised for his work in actively engaging with the Scottish Government and with the industry directly and through sector bodies, enabling Ellandi to support independent retailers by keeping business rates at a fair level.

The following award winners were also honoured:

• Salmon Harvester Opportunity Fund and Leslie Jones Architecture for Cathedral Square, Worcester - Re:fresh Award for active investment into an existing retail and/or leisure destination

• Orion IV European 16 SARL and BDP for East Kilbride Leisure Hub - Re:fresh+ Award for active investment into an existing retail and/or leisure destination

• Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council - Re:generate Award for original investment and ingenuity by the Public Sector to help support and enhance our retail environments

• BOXPARK, Croydon - Re:lax award for exemplary innovative catering and leisure project

James Cons, Chair of the Gold Awards Jury and Managing Director at Leslie Jones Architecture commented: “All of the Gold Award winners deserve recognition for their innovation, creativity and ability to push the boundaries while creating value. We were highly impressed by the quality and standard of all the entries, which demonstrate how robust the sector continues to be as those involved continue to evolve and adapt in a positive way to the changing environment."

Giulia Bunting, 2017 Revo President added: “We all recognise that the retail sector is changing and it is imperative that all of us – whether operators, occupiers, landlords or local authorities – work in unison to meet the challenges with a dynamic, innovative and creative approach. The list of winners tonight clearly demonstrates that the challenges are being met with energy and accomplishment, setting the standard across our industry and ensuring that our communities remain vibrant and sustainable.”
