Sky tunes into Westfield Stratford City

Pay-TV broadcaster Sky has completed its deal to broadcast its 2012 Olympics coverage from the rooftop of Westfield’s Stratford City shopping centre in east London.

Sky will set up temporary studios from the rooftop above Jamie’s Italian restaurant at the east London mega mall during the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games between 27 July and 9 September 2012.

Sky parent BSkyB is the largest pay-TV broadcaster in the UK and Ireland with over 10m subscribers and has been one of the most sought-after unaccredited broadcasters seeking space to cover the Games.

The International Olympic Committee provides accreditation to single national broadcasters to ensure a broad over-the-air television coverage and these broadcasters are hosted in the dedicated International Broadcast Centre within the Olympic Park. The BBC is the UK’s sole accredited broadcaster.

Other major names understood to have signed deals to take corporate hospitality space at Stratford City include Cisco, Deloitte and Adidas.
